You know what really annoys me? Advocacy statistics and the people who present them as valid arguments. Advocacy stats are typically data points, or numbers removed from their original context in order to promote or justify a political agenda. While the stat may not itself be fabricated, usually the reason it's presented away from the proper context, is to promote a false narrative, in order to forward a predetermined agenda. Today I'm addressing an advocacy stat related to cannabis. While I agree that it should be legal, and that the drug war should end, I don't agree with the idea that racial arrest disparities automatically equal racism. This is why I have chosen to debunk this myth. I'm taking on Franchesca Ramsey, Cenk Uygar, and John Oliver.
