In this video, I discuss Barack Obama winning the JFK courage award. Honestly I have no real issue with him getting the reward and this video isn't truly about that. My issue is with a point he brought up during his speech; Obama talks about how standing up for the little guy, and giving a voice to the voiceless, is the true mark of courage, specifically political courage. While this is a nice sentiment, the reality is every politician says they're for the little guy. They all play this game, they all preach about how if only the unfair obstacles between people and sucess were removed, they'd all have no problem advancing. This may be true in a minority of cases, but the reality is, the vast majority of people have determined their own fate, with their own choices. It takes no courage to pander, real courage is taking an unpopular stand because, truth, and principle, should out wiegh popularity.
