In this video I talk about how the left always complains that our government is broken whenever they lose elections. While most of the time this is just incoherent whining, their most recent complaints relate to the United States Senate. The left contends that the Senate is broken due to the fact that small states and large states have equal representation while varying widely in population. However the problems in the Senate actually stem from the Seventeenth Amendment to the United States Constitution which completely changed how the Senate is chosen. I explain how this amendment not only failed in reducing corruption as it was originally intended to do, but I also explain how removing the power of state legislatures to select Senators actually removed key checks and balances in our government.
