Republicans efforts to redistrict in Texas has exposed a voting rights act violation. The Trump Department of Justice has discovered that certain districts in Texas were drawn up to create a racial drawn district under an outdated law. This has helped Democrats to gerrymander districts in their favor and the Supreme Court will weigh in on a similar case in Louisiana that is also in violation of the Voting Rights Act. Democrats have used this to create the effect that elected officials need to look like the people they represent to represent them accurately. The DOJ is cleaning out voter rolls, purging duplicates and non citizens.
