After more than ten years since Senator Ted Kennedy introduced the Hate Crimes Prevention Act, civil rights leaders joined Democratic Senators in celebration of this historic legislation. "Passing this legislation honors the lives of those good people we lost too soon, but we must not mistake it for a monument to them. We are here because the scourge of hate violence that took these lives has not ended," said Joe Solmonese of Human Rights Campaign.
