1:45Now PlayingOn Thursday evening, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid asked unanimous consent to take up HR 3961 with an amendment to extend unemployment benefits for one week. Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell objected to the request and asked that Reid call up the Baucus-Grassley (HIRE Act) amendment to the Motion to Concur with respect to HR 2847 instead of a one week stand alone extension of unemployment benefits. Reid declined to accept McConnell's request and, as a result, McConnell objected to extending unemployment benefits for one week.
