He emphasizes that more than 2,000 Vermonters have already registered with FEMA and many communities in Vermont were isolated because of widespread road damage. Three Vermonters have died as a result of Irene. Two, a son and father, were killed while inspecting a dam. Sanders closes with the sentiment that not only Vermont but other states hard hit by Irene are expected to be aided by Congress as other states have been in past natural disasters.
