Oct 22, 20221:56Now PlayingEarlier this week, I visited communities in Nome, Golovin and Unalakleet to survey the damage caused by Typhoon Merbok and the ongoing recovery. While people are still really hurting out there, particularly due to property damage, there’s also a silver lining to what is going on in Western Alaska right now. There are incredible groups of Alaskans, even groups beyond Alaska, coming together to help these communities. From FEMA to state officials, to church groups, to Team Rubicon, to Samaritan’s Purse, and all the other veterans – young and old – so many people are working twelve hours a day to get these communities back on their feet before the winter comes. The power of unity is on full display in Western Alaska and it is strong.
