Senator Mitt Romney recognized Utah Farm Bureau Federation's Farmers Feeding Utah Program's efforts to serve the community in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
--------
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed Utahns’ ingenuity and desire to serve their neighbors. One shining example of this was Utah Farm Bureau Federation’s creation of the “Farmers Feeding Utah” program. Utah’s farmers, ranchers, and dairy producers lost market access due to disruptions in the supply chain caused by the pandemic. And with many families also facing economic hardship and food insecurity, you all stepped in to help bridge this gap through this program. Using collected donations to purchase product from Utah’s agricultural producers, and in turn donating those products to families in need, was a fantastic idea that helped so many people get through this hard time. More than 1.5 million pounds of food worth over $3.2 million—incredible. I submitted this statement of recognition into the Congressional Record this week to honor all of your hard work. There is more work to be done, and I know the “Farmers Feeding Utah” program will continue to help Utahns in need. I also know that you all are still facing hard times with the current drought. But I’m optimistic that you all will find a way to succeed, as you always do. Thank you to all who were involved—especially The Milkman for his strong leadership. Wishing you all the best and keep up the great work!
