6:18Now PlayingSenator Murray urged her colleagues to join her in supporting Senator Tim Kaine’s (D-VA) war powers resolution following President Trump’s recent escalation of tensions with Iran that prompted an Iranian missile attack on U.S. troops deployed in Iraq and led to more than 100 U.S. servicemembers being diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).
The resolution, which comes in the wake of President Trump’s unilateral military action to kill Iran’s Qasem Soleimani, would require the president to come to Congress for authority before taking additional action that could embroil the U.S. in another foreign conflict. The bipartisan legislation is expected to be called for a vote on Thursday.
