9:33Now PlayingIn this speech on the Senate floor, Senator Whitehouse urged the extension of a renewable energy tax credit grant program as part of a final compromise bill on Bush-era tax cuts. The grant program, which was first established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, is set to expire at the end of this year. The program allows renewable energy projects to receive a direct cash grant instead of a tax credit. It has assisted a number of Rhode Island clean energy projects and promises to support many more worthwhile, job-creating initiatives.
