May 7, 202517:34Now PlayingMay 7 | Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) delivers his 298th speech urging his colleagues to wake up to the threat of climate change and to call attention to the climate calamity wreaking havoc in our oceans.
Last week, Whitehouse attended the 10th Our Ocean Conference in Busan, South Korea on official travel in his role as Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. The Our Ocean Conference began in 2014 as a U.S. State Department initiative to draw attention to the serious threats facing the world’s oceans and to organize international cooperation to protect and improve the health of our oceans. The Trump administration did not send a delegation to this year’s conference, and Whitehouse was the only U.S. official in attendance.
Sheldon Whitehouse represents Rhode Island in the U.S. Senate, where he champions policies to uphold American leadership in the world, protect our planet in a changing climate, and hold the powerful accountable.
