Members of the al-Qaeda-affiliated group ISIS publicly burned cigarette and alcohol stockpiles in the ISIS-controlled Syrian city of Raqqa on April 2. ISIS has a strong presence across north and mid-Syria, where it has instituted Sharia law on the population and banned smoking and drinking alcohol.
