And while some proposed initiatives of the Trump administration are not likely to happen, the increased enforcement of the executive order to withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities is.
In Michigan, the state legislature is considering passing a similar bill that would cut sanctuary cities out of tax sharing plans. Despite the monetary threat, the liberal state capital of Lansing is still considering declaring themselves a sanctuary city.
VICE News correspondent Evan McMorris-Santoro reports from Lansing, where there is widespread support for a resolution but the severity of that resolution is dividing the liberal capital. Protocols already in place already qualify them as a sanctuary city but some want it in writing to affirm their commitment.
