Yet the outcomes of these cases are held back by the unfilled seat on the Supreme Court. Until the Supreme Court votes in its ninth Supreme Court justice, which likely won't be until after the presidential election, all of these groundbreaking cases could end up in a 4-4 vote, which would mean deadlock and the upholding of the lower court's decision.
