In 2016, Iranian illustrator Majid Adin started a blog to share his cartoons. But it angered the ultra-conservative regime and he was put in prison for five months. When he was released, awaiting a trial, he decided to flee. After being smuggled to Turkey, he took a makeshift boat to Greece and arrived at the notorious Calais Jungle refugee encampment in France.

He was there for six months before he was successfully smuggled to the UK in a refrigerated van. He received asylum and then citizenship and has found the support to make his art. Later he animated a music video for the Elton John song Rocket Man which has now been viewed more than 90 million times. He is currently working on a graphic novel inspired by his journey.
