as posted by the channelLibyan rebels have taken control of Tripoli's Green Square amid major celebrations, as Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's 42-year rule appeared to be nearing an end.
Heavy fighting was continuing in the Libyan capital, with reports of clashes near Col Gaddafi's compound and around the Rixos hotel in the city's centre.
Early on Monday several rebel convoys swept into Tripoli, where they encountered little resistance from government forces.
Instead they were greeted by jubilant crowds.
Sky News special correspondent Alex Crawford said thousands of people were involved in euphoric scenes of jubilation at Green Square - the symbolic heart of the capital.
