The company had argued that its digital app simply acted as an intermediary between drivers and customers looking for a ride.
Uber is currently appealing the decision by London Mayor Sadiq Khan to ban them in the capital -- and another ruling at the High Court that it should class its drivers as employees, which would mean they are entitled to the national living wage.
Ian King talks to James Farrar, a former Uber driver who brought that case against the company, and by John Doherty, a partner at the legal firm Penningtons.
