Figures from the platform's 2018 Transparency report show the firm’s algorithms detected 99.5% of terrorist propaganda before it was flagged, yet only 38% of hate speech posts – a figure that does not include the numerous instances of hate speech
Davis told Sky News that hate speech “can require a good deal of context in which to understand the term used” and that “is an area in which we need human involvement.”
The government is considering plans for an internet regulator that could see fines for platforms that fail to remove hate speech within a given time period.
