The announcement of a new tournament allows fans of all twenty Premier League clubs to compete to represent their team on Fifa 19.
It will then climax in a final at Gfinity Arena in London next year.
Mr Cook told Sky News that there are 2.2 billion people in the gaming community and the new tournament can reach new audiences.
Some Premier League clubs such as West Ham and Manchester City already have an esports team along with European giants PSG.
Richard Masters, Premier League managing director, called EA Sports a "fantastic partner" for the company.
Those wishing to register need to be 16 or over.
