YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe issue of Russia has been a stubborn cloud hanging over the Trump presidency since 2016.
To what extent Moscow interfered in the 2016 election is the subject of a wide-ranging investigation led by former FBI director Robert Mueller.
Sky’s Diana Magnay has been on the trail of a Russian woman who is the first person to be charged with attempting to interfere in the midterms.
Elena Alekseevna Khusyaynova, 44, from St Petersburg is accused of being involved in an operation using social media on a significant scale in order to sway the opinions of the American public.
It is alleged Ms Khusyaynova was the chief accountant for Project Lakhta, which was funded by Russian businessman Yevgeny Viktorovich Prigozhin and two companies he controls, Concord Management and Consulting LLC and Concord Catering.
In a video, published by Russian news agency FAN, she said she was an “accountant” and just a “simple Russian woman” but welcomed the election of Donald Trump who Americans chose.
Ms Khusyaynova denies all charges against her.
