2:35Now PlayingThe founder of Italy's populist movement tells Sky News that it would be challenging the 'basis of democracy' if Brexit was abandoned.
Beppe Grillo, who founded the Five Star Movement, speaks on the consequences if MPs' defeat the Brexit withdrawal agreement.
Speaking exclusively to Sky News, he says Brexit could be understood but you would "need to sit with a psychiatrist".
"If you have referendum after referendum, it'll never end," he warned the UK.
"A second vote will simply lead to discussion of a third, and then a fourth, and then you are always going to just flip-flop between the side that feels let-down."
He added: "But if a country goes through a referendum and then that decision is reversed - well, that challenges the very basis of democracy."
The 71-year-old is one of Italy's best-known stand-up comedians but he took his personality into European politics a decade ago.
The Five Star Movement, who have currently won the most seats in parliament, are led by an alliance between Matteo Salvini in combination with Luigi Di Maio.
