Officer numbers in the 43 territorial forces in England and Wales have fallen by 20,000 in the past decade.
Despite Theresa May arguing that there is "no direct correlation between certain crimes and police numbers", the likes of Sadiq Khan, Cressida Dick and Sajid Javid have expressed that there in fact is.
