Their ideas include greening the oceans to take more CO2 and brightening the clouds above the poles to reflect the sun's heat.
The initiative is being led by the Government's former chief scientific adviser Sir David King, who says "what we do over the next 10 years will determine the future of humanity for the next 10,000 years".
