According to Ministry of Defence publicity material, the printed circuit boards control the plane's core capabilities - including its engines, fuel and navigation systems.
There’s no suggestion that the company which makes them has done anything wrong.
But the Chinese state has long been accused of trying to steal military secrets.
One Conservative MP described the revelations as "breathtaking".
