1:13Now PlayingChina’s ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming told reporters that if the situation “deteriorates further” and is uncontrollable for Hong Kong authorities “the central government would not sit on its hands”.
He added that China had "enough solutions and enough power within the limits of basic law to quell any unrest swiftly".
Mr Liu also warned any 'western forces' involved in influencing the protests in any way.
