The Bank of England has cut the interest rate from 0.75% to 0.25%.

Our economics editor Ed Conway says both the size and timing of the cut are dramatic, adding "It's very unusual to have an emergency cut that comes outside their normal schedule... it kind of brings you back to the era of the financial crisis"

He also says the move underlines "how concerned every wing of Government is about coronavirus"
