The business minister refused to comment on Donald Trump's claims that the vote is being rigged and said both the current president and rival Joe Biden were "excellent" candidates for the job.
He also defended the chancellor's U-turn over the extension of the furlough scheme to help people unable to work due to the Covid-19 pandemic - and said mass testing in Liverpool will hopefully get the virus under control in the city.
