The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) said ideally the Pfizer vaccine should be used for a booster, or alternatively a half-dose of a Moderna jab.
And the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Professor Jonathan Van-Tam said the success of the UK's vaccination programme have saved more than 100,000 lives.
