She wrote in 2019 that "a woman is an adult human female. (Not an identity or feeling.)"
De Wahls was forced to give up her workspace by co-workers at the Soho Theatre, then this year the prestigious Royal Academy announced without warning that it was stopping selling her work.
After a public outcry, the RA’s Chief Executive apologised, blaming a failure of communication.
