Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has said "we need to prepare for the worst-case scenario" for Ukraine which "could happen as early as next week".

Speaking at a security conference in Munich, she said: "What this crisis has demonstrated is we are united. We are prepared to put sanctions in place in the event of an incursion. We are prepared to provide that defensive support to Ukraine. We are prepared to stand up and be counted."

She added this is "one of the most dangerous moments for European security".
