2:37Now PlayingA Conservative MP accused of rape has agreed to stay away from Parliament, the Commons Speaker said. He also urged colleagues not to reveal his identity.
The Conservative Chief Whip asked the MP to remain off site as the investigation is ongoing, but as he has not been suspended, he remains a part of the parliamentary party and can still enter parliament.
The announcement from Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle came a day after the Metropolitan Police said the man, aged in his 50s, has been arrested in relation to offences said to have taken place between 2002 and 2009. He has since been bailed.
