The temperature reached 29.3C (84.74F) at Heathrow and Kew Gardens according to the Met Office, making Thursday the hottest day of the year so far.
It surpasses the previous hottest day of the year on Wednesday when 28.2C (82.76F) was recorded at Kew Gardens.
