4:05Now PlayingSixteen and 17-year-olds in Scotland will be allowed to legally change their gender after the Scottish Government rejected amendments to keep the age at 18.
It's part of a broader reform to the laws on gender recognition, which are expected to be given final approval later today.
SNP's Karen Adam says it will simplify the process to "ensure trans people can obtain a gender recognition certificate" and remove the need for a panel to make decisions about someone "they've never met".
