Science, innovation and technology Secretary, Michelle Donelan, has defended the government's approach to asylum.

She told Kay Burley most of the people arriving in the UK on small boats were economic migrants and not genuine asylum seekers.

Under the new plans, Channel migrants will be removed from the UK, banned from future re-entry and will be unable to apply for British citizenship.
