6:30Now PlayingBoris Johnson's biographer, Andrew Gimson, says the former PM is "a very gifted person", after it emerged that in just a few months after leaving No 10 he had shot to the top of the league table of MPs' outside earnings.
Mr Gimson said there should be some "real top earners in Parliament", and that MPs should also work in the private sector to gain more "experience of the outside world".
"He is the greatest campaigner that the Conservatives have got" and is able to "play the game of being the insurgent", he added.
Overall there was a two in five chance that Johnson will be Prime Minister again, Mr Gimson concluded.
