35:46Now PlayingColin H. Kahl, under secretary of defense for policy, briefs the media at the Pentagon on a new aid package the US will deliver to Ukraine, including the decision to send cluster munitions.
Currently, cluster munitions are banned in 120 countries and a 2009 law bans exports of US cluster munitions with bomblet failure rates higher than 1%, which covers virtually all the US stockpile. However, Mr. Biden can waive prohibitions as Donald Trump did in January 2021 for South Korea.
This latest package would be the 42nd sent by the US to Ukraine since the war began and would bring total American spending to more than $40bn.
