8:51Now PlayingLabour's Shadow Defence Secretary John Healey has defended Sir Keir Starmer over his decision to back a humanitarian pause rather than a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
Sir Keir is facing a mutiny in his own party over his decision to back a humanitarian pause, with a number of mayors and Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar all calling for a ceasefire.
Mr Healey says the Labour leader is not backing a ceasefire because it "freezes a conflict" and could give Hamas the ability to mount similar attacks to the one it carried out on 7 October.
He goes on to say that Sir Keir is "not a protest leader" and that while he understands calls for a ceasefire, he does not believe it is the "right approach".
