3:28Now PlayingThe former leader of the Scottish Conservatives, Ruth Davidson has recalled working with Alistair Darling during the 2014 Scottish independence referendum campaign.
Describing him as "the most solid sort of person that you could possibly hope to work with or for" she added: "There is not a single person that works in the Better Together [independence referendum] campaign that has a bad word to say about Alistair because he absorbed so much pressure and let us do our roles within that campaign. And he was just the lightning rod for everything that was thrown at us."
The news of Lord Darling's death was announced earlier today.
