10:08Now PlayingEducation Minister Damian Hinds has told Sky News the Conservatives, if re-elected, would stop universities offering courses that "are not value for money".
Mr Hinds refused to use the phrase "Mickey Mouse degrees" or name individual courses or institutions.
But he said the move would fund 100,000 more apprenticeships a year.
The minister was also pressed on reports pensioners would save just 28p a week if the Tories cut their taxes by creating a new "age-related" tax-free allowance.
