2:44Now PlayingLeader of the House of Commons, Lucy Powell, has announced that MPs will be given the chance to vote on whether to cut winter fuel payments for millions of pensioners.
A motion relating to the changes will be debated on 10 September. The vote will not be substantive, but give an indication of how MPs feel on the allowance.
The move comes after the Conservatives and Lib Dems called for a vote on axing the payments, but the government had previously refused to hold one.
