Donald Trump believes that should remain the case but Kamala Harris wants to restore national abortion protection laws.
In the battleground state of Arizona, abortion is banned after 15 weeks, even in cases of foetal abnormalities.
US correspondent Martha Kelner spoke to those women affected by the issue.
