Sudan’s health ministry shared on Monday that there are 24,116 reported cases, up significantly from 15,577 in late September.
Port Sudan, the wartime capital, was already buckling under the pressure of thousands of displaced people and recently, its main water source the Arbaat Dam has burst from heavy rains.
Sky News filmed people in the city struggling to find clean water and protect themselves against rampant disease.
Yousra Elbagir reports from the quarantine ward in Kassala's main hospital - which is the epicentre of the crisis.
