Far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been jailed for 18 months after admitting contempt of court.

Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, pleaded guilty to repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee.

The 41-year-old was sued for libel at London's High Court in 2021 by Jamal Hijazi and was ordered to pay damages.

He was also made subject to an injunction preventing him from repeating the libellous statements.
