7:09Now PlayingEnergy minister Michael Shanks says Sir Keir Starmer's pledge to reduce carbon emissions by 81% by 2035 is "hugely important", adding it's an "ambitious target" but is "achievable".
Talking to Sky's Sophy Ridge, Mr Shanks says the country went through a "period of declined enthusiasm" towards climate change under the previous government. Since Labour came into power, he says everything they've done "has been about moving towards that climate leadership again".
Mr Shanks also discusses the news of Justin Welby's resignation as Archbishop of Canterbury and his thoughts on assisted dying.
