Gas and electricity bills will become more expensive in January after the energy regulator Ofgem announced an increase in its latest price cap decision.

It will rise to £1,738 from the current level of £1,717 - an increase of 1.2%.

Every three months, energy regulator Ofgem revises the cap based on wholesale costs.
