7:57Now PlayingAlex Norris, the building safety minister, has hailed the government's plans to "rapidly accelerate" the removal of dangerous cladding from high-rise buildings.
The Remediation Acceleration Plan will today set out that by the end of 2029, all buildings over 18 metres tall – defined as high-rise – with unsafe cladding that are on a government scheme will have been remediated.
Asked if non-compliant building owners could be imprisoned, Mr Norris says: "I'm not ruling anything out. We have drawn a line very clearly in the sand... to say that by the end of this decade, those buildings will be remediated, and we will do what it takes for that to happen."
