Fighters from the group Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS) captured the central city of Hama in Thursday in the latest blow to President Bashar al Assad's government.
The regime lost control of parts of Aleppo last week.
Waad al Kateab documented the fighting for Aleppo during Syria's civil war in her documentary.
"Whatever this group was, it won't be as bad as Assad was," she told Sky News' international affairs editor Dominic Waghorn.
"We have to take this opportunity."
