All those who work for such programmes have been placed on paid leave.
A memo was issued on 21 January saying departments should inform employees of the closures by the end of the day.
The action comes a day after the US president issued a series of executive orders to end the schemes, which aim to promote opportunities for women, ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+ people.
