Ambassador Husam Zomlot told Sky News the US president was seeking to normalise "people being literally erased" - but he would not be able to force Palestinians from their homes.
Speaking at a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump told reporters Palestinians could be resettled in neighbouring Egypt and Jordan - something both countries have rejected - and the US could "own" Gaza and "develop it, create thousands and thousands of jobs".
The comments sparked shock across the Middle East.
